14 Last Minute Holiday Gift ideas
Christmas is approaching my lovely friends. Let’s face it, somehow the time goes by and no matter how much you plan ahead, there’s always something you forget to buy or someone you forget to buy for. I usually stress myself out making sure I have everyone covered. Fortunately for me, I have enough back up healing salves, lip balm, lotions, or candles that I can easily put a pretty cool goodie bag together.
But if you’re scrambling to put the final touches on your holiday shopping, here’s a few ideas to consider!
Cozy Blankets
Anything that is cozy is a great gift in my book and I especially love blankets of all sizes, patterns and fabric. Wrapping up in a blanket on a chilly night is heaven and blankets make a lovely gift for your friends, family, neighbors, or co-workers. Add some tea or hot chocolate packets and you have a perfectly peaceful gift.
Slippers
Staying on the cozy train, everyone needs some comfort on our feet. Slippers make a perfect holiday gift during the cold winter nights. I ask for slippers for Christmas every year and my favorite brands are Toms and L.L. Bean.
Earth friendly gifts
For your earth friendly folks, anything that is reusable, reduces waste, or somehow saves the earth will always win. Try making a goodie bags with Swedish dish cloths, reusable sandwich bags, and some eco-friendly dish soap. Or get even cuter with this Kitchen Compost bin. I would love any of this (wink, wink).
Make a Donation
I love World Wildlife Fund (WWF) whose mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on earth. They focus on food, climate, freshwater, wildlife (a personal favorite), forests (another personal fave), and oceans. But in reality, any donation in honor of your friend or secret Santa will go a long way.
Cool Water Bottle
These days everyone loves to travel with water while saving the planet – one bottle at a time. If you’re anything like me, you have too many water bottles, but still welcome one more. I love trying new brands and have a Yeti, Hydro Flask, Nalgene and many others. One I need to add to my roster is this S’well water bottles They are so cute, slick, and easy to travel with. Throw in some hydration packets and you have a nice and easy gift idea.
Coffee / Tea & Mug
Everyone drinks coffee or tea, or even hot chocolate. Pack up a nice bag of your favorite brand and add in a beautifully made mug. If you can find one that’s been made by a local artist even better, but Amazon sells some great mugs that are just right for a holiday gift.
Booze! And a Cocktail Shaker
A bottle of wine, a favorite bourbon, or cheeky gin. This idea is one of the easiest gifts you can give – and you know it won’t go to waste. Add a cool cocktail shaker for a little extra something and your giftee will be a jolly joy. Maybe they’ll even share it with you!
Games, Puzzles, and Toys Oh My
You can’t go wrong with a game. Depending on who you give this gift too, you can get really creative. I’m always a fan of Cards Against Humanity which is all around hilarious. Puzzles are a fun gift but get creative. Find a theme that your friend will love.
Winter Gear
Once again, cozy it up with any kinds of winter gear. I have so many hats but always love a new one. Add in a scarf, fun socks, or gloves and you’re setting your friend up for cold nights.
Candles + Fun matches
Everyone can burn a candle and you can find a delightfully smelly candle that fits the holiday theme anywhere. Add in some fun matches for a little extra touch that they’ll love.
Adult coloring books and colored pencils
Coloring is therapeutic and is an amazing way to calm down after a long day of stress. For your friends who might be stressed, this Stress Relief book is perfect, but there are tons of coloring books available for adults. For your funny joke-friendly friend this Awkward Family Photo book is a winner. I first saw this exact coloring book at a ‘DIY workshop-meets-bar’ in Denver and I’ve bought it for a few friends since then. Don’t forget your colored pencils.
Bath Time Bombs
For all your friends who love bath time, a goodie bag full of things like handmade soap, bath salt, eye mask, candles, a spa bath pillow, or a robe is sure to be a winning gift. Once again, you can’t go wrong with ways to unwind.
Book(s)
Books can be hard to buy as a gift, but if you know your giftee you might have some idea of their reading preference. If not, there’s Book of the Month subscription ideas, or reading lights, fun pillows, mugs, page holders, book shelves, socks, and many other fun tchotchke ideas for those who love to read.
Stovetop Potpourri
Finally, when in doubt and there’s no time to order online, make something with your loving hands that is easy, cost effective, and will smell incredible. My stovetop potpourri is a perfect holiday treat. Wrap the beautiful ingredients up in a mason jar and add a bow. This one is a crowd pleaser.
There you have it. My favorite go-to’s that I hope help relieve a little stress for you in this last week of Holiday prep.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
Peace & Love,
Nikki
