My Favorite Everyday Products That Help Me Survive

Favorite products copy 4.jpg

You know that saying that people ask – if you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring 3 things, what would those 3 things be? My usual go to is chapstick, sunscreen, and water. A reasonable response from my perspective because, yes I must have chapstick. I can’t live without chapstick.

Well I thought about that saying the other day and it got me thinking about my every day products that I would HATE living without. I try to live a simple life, but seriously friends, there are some items I need in my life. The simple products that I use every day and that make my life a little happier, cozier, and help me survive the day.

Before I get into my favorite everyday products, what are yours? Leave me a comment below or share a photo on Instagram and tag @TheSunshineHustle.

Here goes… the items I literally love and use every day.

1.     Yeti coffee mug, filled with coffee and soy vanilla creamer of course.
This is the item I reach for first in the morning. Yes, I’m a “I need coffee first” type of person, but I love it in my Yeti mug. It keeps my coffee hot all morning so I can take my time sipping as I get ready for the day and start working.

2.     Face lotion.
Take care of the goods folks. Your face is a beautifully precious thing and I cannot imagine not having lotion to put on my face twice a day. It’s an addiction, I admit, but I can’t stand dry skin. If I don’t put cream on my face within 3 minutes of washing, I will lose it. I can’t stand the feeling and fortunately I have a recipe that I love, love, love. It’s my homemade face cream and use it day and night. It’s a must try.

3.     Body lotion.
The thought of not having any lotion, of any kind, basically makes me twitch. These days I pretty much use my homemade salves made with dandelions or calendula. Be sure to check those recipes out if you haven’t already. You may become addicted too. Sorry, not sorry.

4.     Cuticle cream.
Are you seeing a theme here? I need to hydrate my body and I have a problem. Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream is my all-time favorite but stay tuned…I’m working on my own recipe that I hope to be able to share with you soon.

5.     Hydroflask Water Bottle.
Again, I’m hydrating my body. I love plain old water, but especially cold water. This water bottle keeps my favorite drink icy cold all day. Aaahhhh.

6.     Chapstick.
Yet another addiction. Not only do I need chapstick many, many times throughout the day, I need at least 5 different types. I can’t use the same one over and over. I need variety – Burt’s Bees, Portland Bee Balm, EOS, Chapstick (the brand), Vaseline Lip Therapy. There’s more, I’m sure, but these are usually the ones I have strategically located in every place I may need it.

7.     Overalls.
During the thick of COVID last year, I pretty much lived in my overalls. They’re comfy, casual, and cute.

8.     Vuori joggers.
Since I’ve been working from home, I basically work each day in my variety of joggers. Business up top, cozy on the bottom. Am I alone here?

9.     Dutch Oven.
You all know by now that I love to cook. And this product cooks everything perfectly. On the stove, in the oven, on a grill, I love it. And even better, this Martha Stewart Dutch Oven has adorable color options that I love.

10.  Garmin watch.
I received my Forerunner 45S for my birthday and I’m officially hooked on having it on my wrist all day every day. I love it for checking the time, I love it for checking my heart rate, and I love it for keeping track of my activity. It keeps me in check.

11.  Spotify play lists.
Music, I must have music throughout the day. My playlists are based on mood. Chill, fun, angry, I got the blues, shake your booty… the list goes on. Regardless of my mood, I need a playlist on.

12.  Cozy blanket.
Who loves a good blanket? I know I do. These days my favorite is my new Trek Light Gear blanky. Their blankets have amazing designs, but they also make me feel like I’m camping. It’s warm, homey, and makes my soul feel comforted.

In reality, my everyday must have products list could go on and on, but these are some of my faves. Notice I didn’t put my cellphone on this list? Yes I love this item too, but I’m trying to get away from being on my phone all day. I’m old school like that.

Of course, as I think about being stranded on a desert island, none of these products would help me survive. But they sure would make me happy!

What are your favorite products? What would you take to the island?
