Well Wishes and Plans for 2022
Happy new year friends, and welcome to 2022. Today, I am feeling hopeful that this year things will get better, we can come together, and we will find happiness. It’s been a rough few years, hasn’t it?
This past year alone, we’ve seen Trump supporters invade Capitol Hill, COVID has continued to get worse, Afghanistan fell to the Taliban, tornados, floods & wildfires have hit our land with incredible force, including the recent December 30th Boulder County fires that destroyed nearly a thousand homes in Colorado. And in the last day of the year, we lost the sweet and talented Betty White. Yea, I’d say it’s been a tough year with heartache and pain for so many. It really is hard to see the bright side sometimes.
These things have made me feel moments of endless sinking, unhappiness, and anxiety. I have a feeling I’m not alone here? Well, it’s time for a new beginning and some positivity.
This year, I want to work to bring joy in my life, even among the hate and destruction that surrounds us all. And here is how I plan to do that?
Start my morning by smiling and thinking something positive.
These things can reduce stress, offer a mood boost, and better your mental health. Smiling can reduced blood pressure and even endurance. So smile, smile, smile friends.
Reduce alcohol intake.
Reducing alcohol is so good for weight loss, improves sleep, and increases energy. All things I need to focus on big time this year!
Meditate.
Oh, the tremendous benefits of meditating! Seriously, this is something you should consider if you’re not doing already. Studies show how meditation not only reduces stress and anxiety, but also reduces depression, increases memory and creativity, increase compassion and productivity, and provides overall focus in your life.
Do more yoga.
Along with meditation, yoga and overall stretching helps with your flexibility and increases muscle strength & tone. It also improves energy, promotes a balanced metabolism and cardio health, and helps with weight reduction.
Workout more.
Being COVID-cautious has kept me from the gym the last few years but I did my best to walk 5-7 times a week. That has certainly helped me mentally & physically, but I need to kick it up a notch and get my cardio back to where it once was.
Adjust my diet.
I have struggled with belly issues for years. This year I am making changes and have already taken an Everlywell Food Sensitivity test. We’ll see what changes need to be made but starting with the test is my first step to making improvements in my health. Physically feeling better will help me feel better emotionally. I can’t wait.
Practice gratitude.
Gratitude is a lovely thing, and the benefits of practicing gratitude are limitless. You can experience more positive emotions, sleep better, have more compassion for others and improve your own physical health. Gratitude lets you see the bright side of things when life can otherwise feel impossible. Something so easy can do such good.
Do more good deeds.
This year I want to take more time to do something good more often. My goal in life is always to make the world a happier place but often it’s easy to get bogged down in my daily stresses. And I hope me doing good deeds encourages others to do good deeds too.
